My second was prem and ended up with a 10 degree flat spot.his head was very misshappen with his ears at different levels, and a real bulge on one side of his forehead. I also went to her with both my other sons. The next week we saw her again, and he is now at 3 degrees flat spot. I don't know if they help or not, but I can't see how they would do any harm.

She did her thing, and told me to do the things mentioned above (by MCHN and GP), plus she gave me exercises to do with him at each nappy change.massaging both his feet simultaneously with my thumbs going from heel to toes in one sweep x 10 reps and then getting his right hand to meet his left knee at his mid-line, and vice versa x 10 reps. She checked his head, and he had a 4 degree flat spot.

These things didn't help him much, so I took him to a gentle baby chiropractor (no bone cracking, more a type of pressure point thing). They both said for him to do lots of tummy time to help strengthen his neck muscles, and to try to encourage him to look to the non-preferred side in his bassinette as PP's have mentioned. He developed a flat spot, that has caused a bump on his head, and pushed the one side of his forehead further than the other. My little one is 10 weeks old, but I noticed he was preferring to have his head to one side while lying on his back from about 4 weeks, and couldn't breast feed as well on the left side from 2 weeks. sorry for long post, just kind of freaking out a little about her poor noggin! Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I just feel so bad! I don’t know how to get her to lay more on the right side, or if I’m too late. Has anyone had this happen before? The flat spot is on her left back side, but it’s making her whole head look out of shape because of it. I really don’t want her to have to wear a helmet to correct what I should have been on top of sooner :( and I read that after four months if the head is still misshapen that’s what usually happens. She just always has her head to the left, if I reposition her head to face right she gets upset or just immediately turns it back. But I’m so scared it’ll end up getting worse and worse in the mean time. The physiotherapist has booked me in for March, which is the earliest. I’ve heen trying this for 3 weeks, and her head is actually getting worse.

And in the mean time get my baby to lay on the right side of her head more then the left. At this point you had to really look to notice, and she said she’d get me a referral sent through to see a physiotherapist. So at my baby’s 8 week check I told the health nurse there that I had noticed my girls head seemed a bit misshapen.
